Microsoft Visual Studio Roadmap Includes Many Performance Improvements

A few days ago, Microsoft posted a document that provides a sneak peek into all the new features that will be hitting Visual Studio. Visual Studio’s Roadmap captures some of the most important elements that Microsoft is committed to and also a timeframe for when we’ll be able to try them.

The company makes sure to tell users that the feature sets and delivery timeframes are current and they can be changed at any time.

Visual Studio continues to roll out to its Preview and Release users, and you can install the latest Preview from the Preview downloads page. After the features are examined in the Preview, they get promoted to Release. Microsoft listed the features that are currently in the works and we can see two timeframes being detailed.

Roadmap for 2018 Q2 (April-June)

This period is filled with a lot of features and enhancements, and some of the most interesting ones include the ability to manage your app secrets with a new connected service for Azure Key Vault in C# apps. Another worth mentioning new feature that we can expect is the ability to edit templates for Universal Windows Platforms controls in the Visual Studio XAML designer targeting Windows Fall Creators Update and above that version.

We’ll also be able to edit visual states and animation in Blend for Visual Studio in Universal Windows Platform projects that are aimed at Windows Fall Creators Update and above that version of the OS. Roadmap for 2018 Q3 (July-September)
