Microsoft To Release New Windows 10 Lumia Smartphones

Microsoft is preparing some new Windows 10-powered devices for this fall! Reportedly, the big part of Microsoft’s plan are new Lumia devices designed specially for company’s upcoming operating system, Windows 10.

At its annual Worldwide Partner Conference today, Microsoft revealed a couple of details about the devices it plans to release by the end of this year. Although there wasn’t a lot of news related to Windows 10 Mobile itself, Terry Meyerson, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of the Windows and Devices group hinted to us that there will be some new premium Lumia devices powered by Windows 10, by saying: “Last week we announced a focusing on our Lumia lineup, but let me be clear: soon you will see premium new Lumias designed for Windows 10.”

This shouldn’t be a big surprise, because Microsoft earlier announced that the company will make some strategic changes when it comes to releasing new mobile devices. As said, Microsoft will now focus on three areas: value of devices, mid-range devices and high-end devices for enthusiasts.

These new premium Lumias could be company’s long planned Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL phones, which will reportedly cost more than Samsung Galaxy S6 or Apple’s iPhone 6. There’s also a possibility that one of these devices will be the Surface Phone. But these are all just speculations, as Microsoft still didn’t confirm anything.

Microsoft also didn’t reveal any details about the exact release date of these premium Windows 10 Lumia devices, but we won’t be surprised if the company decides to reveal them and the upcoming IFA 2015 event in September.
