Microsoft Rolls Out Invites For Xbox One Anniversary Update Preview

The Anniversary Update frenzy has taken over all of Microsoft’s departments. Windows 10 PC Insiders can now test the latest improvements brought by build 14352 while Windows 10 phone owners try out the bug fixes brought by the Mobile build 14356. Xbox One users shouldn’t feel left since Microsoft is currently rolling out invitations to the Anniversary Update Preview on its consoles as well.

Xbox One Insiders who gathered the most points by filling out the most surveys and completing the most quests during the previous preview release will be the ones to receive the invitation. While there is no Xbox One build preview available yet, not even for those invited, the fact that Microsoft is sending out invitations is a clear indication the company will soon roll out its Xbox One Anniversary Update preview. This update will most likely prepare Xbox One consoles for the final Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which is expected to take the Windows 10 experience to the next level.

As far as the Xbox One Anniversary Update’s content, a series of groundbreaking features are expected: access to UWP apps from the Windows Store, background audio playback, and possibly Cortana integration.

Apart from the Anniversary Update, Xbox One users could soon be tempted with a purchase a new Xbox device: The tech community expects this new console to be announced at E3, although Microsoft has yet to mention anything about it. Redmond could also launch a new controller at the same event, giving users the chance to refresh their Xbox One collection.
