Well, this hypothesis no longer seems that far-fetched, especially if we take into consideration the fact that Microsoft recently replaced ‘PC’ with ‘device’ in an important error description.

As WalkingCat points out, this could be the beginning of the post-PC era.

To some users, this change indicates Microsoft is planning to bring the Windows Phone back from its grave.

18944: “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart.” replaced “Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart.” ? is that “post-PC era” ?

This wording change is shrouded in mystery. Microsoft has not revealed any additional details as to why it decided to replace ‘PC’ with ‘device’. We hope the upcoming Windows 10 Insider builds will shed some light on this change.

Clearly it signals the revival of Windows Phone.
