Microsoft revealed a brand new keyboard the other month specifically designed for Windows 10 users.
The Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID
This device features a built-in fingerprint sensor that works perfectly with Windows Hello. When it was first announced, the company did not unveil when the keyboard would become available for purchase but fortunately, the time has come and you can now get the keyboard as it’s finally available in the US.
Microsoft’s vision for this keyboard was to blend the Fingerprint reader into a keyboard so it would appear to be just like any other key — and this is exactly what the company did. In doing so, Microsoft improved each layer and to make sure that they come together to create a flawless typing experience.
It rings up at $129.99 and you will get an education discount in case you are an eligible buyer. Fortunately, this will bring the price down to $116.99 but even so, it remains a bit pricey for some users.
The fingerprint sensor is an appealing feature
The keyboard’s price is high due to its fingerprint sensor, that’s for sure. It is integrated smoothly into the keyboard’s layout and looks just like any other key. The fingerprint sensor is located where you would normally find the right Windows key. Its location is interesting, and even if it’s not the first place you would expect to find it, it is clearly labeled.
On the other hand, the loss of the right Windows key is not something crucial nor something most people will care about.
All in all, the option of using the Microsoft Modern Keyboard with its Fingerprint ID is a compelling option and will be more appealing to commercial audiences.
