It’s, therefore, easy to understand why Microsoft is aggressively pushing Edge on people that use rival browsers.

Already, some Windows 10 Search users have reported seeing a message that encourages them to try the new Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft isn’t stopping there. The company is now promoting the browser to OneDrive users, according to a report by Windows Latest.

OneDrive users now targeted with Microsoft Edge messaging

Microsoft is doing a great job with the features it keeps adding to Edge. For instance, automatic profile switching is ideal for users with multiple profiles (such as work and personal).

Also, along with other Chromium-based browsers, Edge recently received a built-in spellchecker. The browser should naturally appeal to more users with all these feature enhancements it’s getting.

But Microsoft also wants to use free advertisement to grow the popularity of Edge.

So, next time you sign into OneDrive, you might encounter a banner message talking up several Microsoft Edge qualities. It appears that Microsoft is delivering the messaging to users of Chrome and other browsers.

The banner has a link you can click to download the Chromium-based browser.

According to Windows Latest, you can quickly get rid of the massage by clicking on the X button.

The Chromium-based browser started rolling out in January 2020, and it still has a long way to go before catching up with industry leader Chrome. For starters, it has to wrestle some market control from the hands of its closest rival, Firefox.

Chrome may be at the top, but Google isn’t sitting pretty either. You can tell that from the Chrome promotions the company is pushing on Gmail users accessing their accounts via Microsoft Edge.
