Things are getting from bad to worse, when it comes to Windows updates.

Someone at Microsoft is pushing the wrong buttons

It seems like Microsoft isn’t having a good day. After accidentally releasing an internal Windows 10 version to all Insiders, which mind you leaked a couple of design changes, now a new update is causing confusion.

This time it seems that the company released an Xbox dev update to Windows 10 users. Here’s how one user describes it:

And here’s the OPs screenshot:

Saw this in windows update. Anyone knows what it is about? And why is it showing up in windows update?

Can I get the Xbox update on my Windows 10 PC even if i’m not an Insider?

This isn’t a one-time deal, as another user confirms the issue:

The weird thing is that the update was released to normal users, and not Insiders. Moreover, the Update Troubleshooter didn’t discovered any problems and the issue remains, even after running the troubleshooter.

I just saw that too.

The good news is that the Xbox update won’t install on Windows because the files are not signed correctly, so you don’t have to worry about that.

If you’re in the same situation, your best bet is to wait it out. Maybe after Microsoft sorts out their recent update problems, this issue will disappear as well.

If the advices above haven’t solved your issue, your PC may experience deeper Windows problems. We recommend downloading this PC Repair tool (rated Great on TrustPilot.com) to easily address them. After installation, simply click the Start Scan button and then press on Repair All.
