One of the most effective ways of enticing customers to a product is to introduce ease of billing and payment to the service. Microsoft has done the same for Windows Store and recently announced an expansion in payment options for Xbox One and Xbox One S that allows users to use their phones for Windows Store purchases via Carrier Billing.
Xbox users in several countries can use this feature to purchase games, videos, and apps from the Windows Store on their Xbox One consoles or on devices supporting the Xbox app. A number of mobile operators from all over the world have joined their hands to support the Carrier Billing feature, including Telenor and O2.
Though a large number of mobile operators are yet to (or may never) add the Carrier Billing payment method and the ones who have are listed below:
Finland. DNA and Elisa Germany. O2 Hungary. Telenor Norway. Telenor Russia. Beeline Sweden. Telenor Switzerland. Swisscom UK. O2
If you can’t spot you mobile carrier on the list, be patient as Microsoft has stated that they are still working with more partners to bring support for carrier billing on Xbox One.
How to use it?
To add Carrier Billing payment method, you will need a new Carrier Billing account and the rest of the process is pretty much the same as adding any other payment option to the Xbox.
If you are a user of any of the mentioned mobile operators and live in the specified regions, you can select the one you have when prompted to choose the payment method. Just add a new payment method by going to the ‘Change’ option and add Operator Billing by your telephone number. Finally, you’ll receive a verification code on your device which you will need to enter on your Xbox to authorize the transaction.
The Carrier Billing option is no doubt a cheaper, reliable and easy alternative for those who don’t own a credit card or find it difficult to obtain one.
