In the announcement, Microsoft also provided several guides for setting up and switching between multiple profiles in Edge.
Automatic switching between work and personal Edge profiles
Navigating between different browser profiles can be confusing sometimes. It is especially so to users who regularly juggle between work and personal files when using Edge.
Microsoft is addressing that issue with the automatic profile switching feature. With this update, you will be able to get to your company portal much quicker if you have set up multiple profiles in Edge.
In case you try visiting your company’s or business website via your personal profile, Edge will detect the attempt. A prompt popup will then present you with the option to change to the official profile. That way, you may go to the work portal without requiring authentication.
We’re also excited to announce a new feature to help you get to your work content more easily while using multiple profiles. We call it Automatic Profile Switching. If you’re a multiple profiles user, you can check it out by trying to navigate to a work site (a site authenticated with your work or school account) while in your personal profile.
If you choose to switch profiles, the right site will open in your browser’s work profile. Microsoft acknowledges the fact that not everybody works this way. Also, some users may not be a fan of automatic profile switching.
You can just choose don’t ask me again so that the browser does not prompt you to switch profiles in the future.
Microsoft is refining Edge to suit remote working
Microsoft started rolling out its new Edge browser in January 15. The application has been getting gradual improvements since.
The company has also been refining some of its software products targeted at tens of millions of remote workers around the globe. For example, Teams has been a major recipient of upgrades lately, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic that is forcing people to work from home.
The latest update to Edge reinforces the notion that Teams is not the only software product that Microsoft is trying to make relevant to work-from-home professionals.
As expected, the company is inviting users to explore the new automatic profile switching capability in Edge. If you do not like the experience or encounter a bug, feel free to report back to the Edge team via the in-app feedback functionality.
If the advices above haven’t solved your issue, your PC may experience deeper Windows problems. We recommend downloading this PC Repair tool (rated Great on TrustPilot.com) to easily address them. After installation, simply click the Start Scan button and then press on Repair All.
