At the Build 2014 event that is unwrapping as we speak, some interesting statistics have already been revealed – it seems that the total number of daily Windows Store and Windows Phone app downloads is reaching 14 million now.
At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, we were disclosing that Microsoft’s Windows Store was at around 4 million daily download, after it has been increased from around 2 million a year ago. Now, at the Build 2014 event from San Francisco, California, attendants are sending in interesting stats that have been displayed on banners near the entrance of the main event. So, as yo can see for yourself in the above image – the number if daily app downloads is growing quite fast.

So, as the above exhibit says, Microsoft has seen a combined 14 million daily app downloads from its Windows Store, consisting in Windows 8, RT and 8.1 apps and Windows Phone Store apps. If the numbers which have been reported the last time haven’t changed too much, then this means there should be around ten million daily downloads coming from Windows Phone users. Corroborated with some reports that Windows Phone usage share is growing, this all makes sense.
So, we can also see that there are 400, 000 applications in both the Windows and Windows Phone store. And the latest reports were saying that there were around 150, 000 apps for Windows 8 users, which means Windows Phone users have almost twice at their disposal with around 250, 000. But quite soon, we’ll probably see Windows Phone 8 getting announced, and this is bound to gather even more users.
Growing Windows and Windows Phone momentum. 400k apps milestone, here and gone. 14 million daily downloads, and counting. You’re making it happen. Thank you.
