There’s no doubt the future of banking is out of the banking hall. More specifically in the palm of your hands. That’s why Ugandans banks are taking internet and mobile banking seriously especially following the aftermath of Mobile money.

PostBank Uganda is the latest traditional bank to embrace mobile bank via mobile a mobile app. The bank has previously been offering internet banking on the web and mobile banking services to its customers through a USSD shortcode *163#.  But nothing comes close to having the same service on a mobile App.

Judging from the  information the Google Playstore, the App must have been released as early as February this year. But it’s one avid reader of this blog that tipped us on the availability of the app.

From the description of the app in the Playstore, the app enables Postbank Uganda customers to carry out financial transactions by simply utilizing any internet-enabled android smartphone. All that is needed is:

  1. An active bank account with balance on it for transactions
  2. Customer’s user ID
  3. The application platform PIN Number

Postbank customers will have to first visit any of the bank’s branches to register their account for a username to allow them access to this service enabling users to bank anytime, anyway.
