Windows 10 build 17733 issues

If you rely on the Mail app to access your emails, you may want to temporarily switch to Outlook. Insiders reported that hyperlinks fail to open after installing the latest Windows 10 build.

Data loss issues

Some Insiders complained about losing all their junction links after hitting the update button.

Hyperlinks in Windows 10 mail app not working on latest Windows 10 Fast Track insider update 17733.rs5_release.180803-1525. No email hyperlink is working in the mail app version 16005.10325.20106.0. The same link works perfectly from Outlook. […] It happens in all accounts, all emails – app has just been updated, have run troubleshooter. Have only just reconfigured and refreshed windows a couple of days a go so fresh build too.

Other users said this build reverted their settings to default and installed apps and programs they had previously removed.

Right after update to the recent 17733 all junction links from C:Users can’t be open including My Documents, Start Menu, etc.

The Settings page crashes

Many Insiders who tried to clear their Activity History experienced app crashes. More specific, the Settings page crashes when users try to delete their Activity History.

Awful build. […] totally replacing the existing OS with a new installation that gets rid of existing downloads, reverts everything to defaults and installs apps that were previously disabled and uninstalled.

File Explorer is hard to read at angles in Dark Mode

Microsoft still has some work to do on the new File Explorer Dark Mode UI. Many Insiders find it hard to read the text at angles in Dark Mode, so they prefer to use the light mode instead.

This brings us to the end of our list. If you already tested Windows 10 build 17733 on your computer, use the comment section below to tell us more about your experience.

In my laptop, dark mode for File Explorer is hard to read at angles, so I prefer light mode. However, I have found no way of putting FE in light mode without tuning off dark mode elsewhere which I do prefer. It would be really good to be able to pick and choose which parts use dark mode rather than “all or nothing”.
