If you’ve been following the news closely, then you probably know that Microsoft hinted towards the fact that Windows 8 apps will run on the upcoming Xbox One gaming console. We didn’t see any official information yet, probably because the Redmond company is keeping this for the official launch of the Xbox One that is scheduled for November. But it seems that DELL made a small (or big?) mistake by accidentally confirming this on its promotional page for Xbox One accessories.

Windows 8 apps to run and be synced on Xbox One
Here is what you will see on Dell’s webpage which could be pulled down anytime soon. You can also see a screenshot above with the information as well:
We can all agree that it is very, very hard to presume this is just a mistake. So, almost without a doubt, all of your Windows 8 applications are going to run very well on the Xbox One, and I assume the updated Xbox Smart Glass will have to do something with that.
Consider the game officially changed. With all your favorite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience.
It seems that right now, Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 4 gaming consol has more appealing features than the Xbox One, so Microsoft is looking to balance that out. We also need to observe that preparing apps for two different ecosystems won’t be easy, but perhaps Redmond will come up with the right tools for Windows 8 and Xbox One developers.
What do you think about this? Would you find real use in this feature if Microsoft were to deploy it? Let us know in the comments section below.
