As the description suggests, KB4555452 is an update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 that installs as a file cabinet folder inside SoftwareDistributionDownload.

The problem is that, as the Windows insider Johnny_55 states on the Microsoft Answers page, the file keeps disappearing after every build update.

The insider suggests that after the update, Windows Update checks for KB4555452 and doesn’t find it, so it needs to download and install it again.

Why is KB4555452 disappearing every time?

There are two plausible explanations until now:

  • KB4555452 is not included in the new builds by mistake, and thus it needs to reinstall.
  • KB4555452 is not there on purpose so that Microsoft can update it every time for security purposes.

As you might have guessed, we don’t have an explanation from Microsoft about this strange KB4555452 and its magical disappearance.
