Jolla, the Finnish-based company set to launch its new Sailfish mobile operating system later this year, has unveiled its first device.
The device comes with ample 4.5” Estrade display, a Dual core processor and 4G connectivity. More so, the device has 16GB internal memory with a slot for a microSD and a User-replaceable battery. An 8MP AF camera makes up the device’s optics and all this will be served on a Gesture based Sailfish OS — one of the new mobile operating systems set to compete against Ubuntu Mobile OS, Firefox OS, Asha OS among other upcoming ones.
According to the company’s website, the device is expected availability by end of 2013 subject to demand in your local market. Sales will start in European countries with more countries to follow. If you join the Movement and get the pre-order number to buy the phone when available, you’ll pay no more than 399€; including applicable VAT in Europe, but excluding shipping costs, duties and any local taxes.
We don’t know yet which African countries the device will be available, but the website states that supported countries will be defined closer to shipment date.
