In the past few years, the Hisense brand of TVs has become the go-to choice for people looking to upgrade their sets with something more modern. They offer many of the same functions and features that the larger device makers have at a lower price. Furthermore, they have the same length of warranty to set the consumers’ minds at ease.

Hisense TVs are good. In terms of a budget-friendly alternative to some of the more higher-end Smart TV brands, Hisense does offer some of the same features. They offer the same warranty in length as the more well-known TV companies, and they do it at a typically lower cost.

The old adage that you get what you pay for holds true here, though. Hisense is able to keep their prices lower overall because they do not use the absolute highest quality components in the TVs. The main complaints people online seem to have include subpar speaker performance and laggy software.

This is what makes it difficult to give a straight answer to the question. Yes, they make TVs of decent quality, but the price must also be considered. Can you compare a reasonably priced Hisense to a higher-level product from Sony? Of course not. But it does not mean that the Hisense TV is not a good option for someone.

How Long Does a Hisense TV Last?

While typically considered a more economical option, Hisense does not use poor-quality screens. On average, their screens will last roughly 7 years if the user uses them at the highest brightness setting. A more realistic lifespan is closer to 10 years of usage.

Hisense TVs do not last substantially less or longer than the more well-known brands when compared apples-to-apples. The exception would be when comparing a TV that is LED-backlit and one that has a more traditional bulb. LED lights will always last longer no matter what brand produces them.

While this may not seem like a great length of time, you must consider that the hardware will be fairly out of date at this point and would require replacements to keep up with the rate of technology changes. Also, after 10 years of display improvements, new devices will have substantially better picture quality than their predecessors and would probably make the owner want to replace them anyway.

Who Makes Hisense TVs?

Hisense TVs and the other products in their portfolio are produced by the Hisense Group in China, Mexico, and some parts of Europe. The company began making TVs in 1978 but mainly as an OEM. The firm made devices for other companies to rebrand as their own. In the last 20 years, the company has begun making its own devices under the Hisense brand.

The components of these devices are typically made in parts of Asia and shipped to the various factories for final assembly.

Is Hisense Better Than Sony?

When looking for the answer to this question, the buyer has to consider a few things. The devices have to have the same overall specifications. Screen type (LED, OLED), resolution (HD, UHD), etc. The buyer has to realize that just because the screen size may be the same, there is much more to these products.

Once a prospective buyer looks at the similar versions of a Hisense and Sony TV, they can make a real comparison. What they will typically find are very similar devices with one major difference: price. 

Not to take anything away from Hisense because they make a decent product for the price. But they do not make the same caliber of products that Sony does. Sony has a long history of quality displays, great speakers, build quality, and reliability. Hisense could get there one day, but at this point in time, Sony is the better product out of the two.
