How do I fix the orange blinking light on my HP printer?
1. Perform a Power Reset
- Remove the Cartridges from the printer.
- Make sure the printer is turned on, and disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Now unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove any USB cable that is connected to the printer to any other device including computer.
- Leave the printer in the off state for a few minutes.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to reset the settings.
- Now plug back the power cable to the wall outlet. Make sure you are connecting directly to the wall outlet without using any surge protector.
- Plug the other end to the printer.
- Turn on the printer if it doesn’t turn on automatically.
- Wait for the printer to become idle and warm-up. Now check if the Orange light is still blinking.
2. Check the Ink Cartridge for Fault
- If you haven’t changed the Ink Cartridge for a long time now, it may be the right time to have a look at them and check them for quality issues. They could be causing your printer blinking orange light issue.
- If the Ink Cartridge has expired or depleted or at the verge of depleting it may create issues with the printer.
- Check if the Ink Cartridges are leaking.
- If under warranty, contact HP support and check if they can replace the cartridges with the new one.
3. Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer Driver
- Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
- Type control and press OK.
- In the Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound > Printers and Devices.
- Right-click on the problematic printer entries and select Remove Device.
- Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- In the Printer Server Properties window, open the Drivers tab.
- Now select all the entries for your printer and click on Remove > Remove Driver Only.
- Open “File Explore” navigate to C:>programdata>HP.
- Remove any printer related folder and files in the folder.
- Restart the computer.
- Download the HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software and reinstall the printer.
