Microsoft’s strategy in 2017 revolves around two main ideas: 3D support and making VR affordable to as many users as possible. The company offered Windows 10 fans a glimpse into the upcoming Windows 10 OS, introducing many interesting features.

Microsoft wants to make VR available and affordable for everybody, and this includes access to mixed-reality, virtual reality and augmented reality as well. Thanks to these new features, you’ll be able to take your Windows 10 apps with you in VR.

HP is already the most popular PC manufacturer among Windows 10 users, and the VR headsets it will ship for the Creators Update will further help the company to maintain its popularity.

The Windows 10 Creators Update will be the most powerful and affordable way to experience mixed reality. Today we announced that HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Dell and Acer will ship the first VR headsets capable of mixed reality through the Creators Update. Coming in 2017, these accessories will contain built-in sensors to enable inside-out, six-degrees of freedom for simplified set-up and to more easily move around your home as you experience virtual worlds — no markers required.

The Windows 10 Creators Update VR features can be used for a variety of purposes. As Microsoft showed in its Windows 10 Event presentation, one of the many domains VR can be used for is interior design. Windows 10 VR now allows you to see what your house will look like if you make particular design changes.

While the HoloLens headset has a price tag of $3,000, the VR headsets shipped by HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Dell will start at $299, the price of an Xbox One S console. No further details are available regarding the specs of these VR headsets but more information should become available in the next weeks.
